Welcome to Spiderking Studios!

Dec 13, 2023

Hello fellow film lovers, we are so very excited to welcome you to the official first-ever Spiderking Studios monthly blog post! If you are looking forward to keeping up with all the big news Spiderking Studios related, this is without a doubt the place for you!

For those of you who might be new here (don’t worry— we are too), why don’t we take the time to tell you just a little bit about who we are, and what we do as a team and community!

Nestled in the heart of Roseburg, Oregon, Spiderking Studios is a veteran-owned film company that aims to bring local actors into the world of movie production. Founded just a few short years ago by filmmaker and Army veteran Jake Tranter, the studio brings a unique perspective to the world of filmmaking in rural Oregon. With roots deeply embedded in the principles of the small town atmosphere, teamwork, and dedication to the craft, Spiderking Studios aims to create a culture that welcomes anyone and everyone into their projects regardless of their experience or background. The studio not only contributes daily to the local film scene here in Roseburg, but also reaches audiences around the nation and has released four feature films, as well as several shorts, at the time of this posting!

What Are We Doing Now?

We are excited to share that we are currently underway on principal photography for our next feature length film, set to release in early-to-mid 2024! This particular feature, titled Killer Roommate, has been an absolute blast for our crew to work on over the past several months, and while we unfortunately did have a pretty heavy delay on this project due to some outside circumstances, we are hitting the ground running to finish up this masterpiece and debut it to the public in the coming months!

Upon the completion of principal photography for Killer Roommate within the next few months, the company will be officially beginning pre-production on another exciting feature length film, titled Pelican Soup that we hope to release as the next project in our official lineup! This particular film is going to be completely unlike anything we’ve ever done before, and we are very excited to begin pre-production on this project! We also have several TV shows and short films coming down the pipeline for the public to enjoy alongside our feature length productions, and we are very excited to share these projects as well!

CEO and Director Jake Tranter says “We have really started turning the gears and begun the process of a lot of projects, as well as recommenced filming on our feature Killer Roommate. There have been some setbacks this year and we haven’t brought the public everything that I wish we could have, but we are turning things around and some exciting stuff is on the horizon.”

As you can see, there is most certainly never a dull moment when it comes to Spiderking Studios! Even when it seems like things are quiet and we are not actively filming (or otherwise in production on) a feature film for the studio itself, we are actively engaged in our community by filming events such as weddings, festivals and theatrical productions, assisting with production on commercials, recording weekly broadcasts for the WITZ, attending mixers alongside fellow business owners, as well as many more fun and engaging activities that allow us to work very closely with members of our community!

I’m so excited that I have found you, and I am looking forward to auditioning in one of your projects. I am a 52 year old disabled vet, and have recently discovered my love for theatre. I have been the villain in two melodramas, there’s not better part to play. Also tried my hand at the Face of Horror competition and almost made to the quarter finals. I would love to share that with you more!
